Prior to this position, I served as Fire Chief for the City of Monterey Park, retiring in 2014 after a 31 year career with that department. I have been serving as the Executive Director of the Los Angeles Area Regional Training Group since 2014 and I am extremely proud of the work we are doing collaboratively across the LA region.
To say we are in an exciting time in the Fire Service would be an understatement. The advances achieved with regard to training and firefighter safety are astounding and the members of the RTG are honored to assist every agency within our region in delivering the highest quality training and education while staying current with the latest technological advances associated with that training.
Our online training program (TDM) has helped us reach our goal of training the LA region’s firefighters as one from Lancaster to Long Beach. This type of training delivery will propel the RTG and all 29 fire agencies into the forefront of training not just in California but the United States. Please be sure to log in to the RTG LMS or your Department’s designated LMS for participation.
The threat of terrorism is unfortunately a threat that is here to stay as evidenced by attacks in the United States and around the world. While we all hope that a threat never materializes into an event, we must prepare and train as if it could happen at any moment. Advances in Urban Search and Rescue techniques along with new educational opportunities with Hazardous Materials training and participation with our Green Cell simulation training will aid the LA region in our efforts to be prepared to mitigate and respond to any event that might occur in the Los Angeles area and beyond.
The RTG serves at the pleasure of the 29 agencies that comprise our region. We are here for you and your training needs.
